OH BOBO, YOU'RE SILLY

Surprise of surprises, the new David Brooks column makes no sense:
Let's say you are an 18-year-old kid with a really big brain. You're trying to figure out which field of study you should devote your life to, so you can understand the forces that will be shaping history for decades to come.

Go into the field that barely exists: cultural geography. Study why and how people cluster, why certain national traits endure over centuries, why certain cultures embrace technology and economic growth and others resist them.

This is the line of inquiry that is now impolite to pursue.

If only there had been such a course of study where I went to school.

(Thanks to Phil).

  1. Where's your post about Cindy Sheehan? Everyone else seems go have one. Aren't you going to jump on the liberal blogging train? Call Bush an emperor with no clothes or compare Mrs. Sheehan to Rosa Parks? The people want answers Tim!

  2. Erm...

    Bush is naked, dammit!

And Cindy Sheehan should be proud of riding in the front of the bus, where that little bench that lifts for handicapped people is!

    Hurray for America!

(The problem is, I read all of these blogs and I get to asking, what can I add? And when the answer is "nothing," I write that. I forget that I am the only blogwhore here).

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.

Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
