COUNTDOWN TO INDY 4: THE SINGLE FACT THAT GIVES ME THE MOST HOPE THAT THE NEW FILM WILL BE GOOD
By far, the best reason I have for dreading Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls is the presence of George Lucas, the man who was able to make 2.5 completely awful Star Wars movies in the last nine years. Now, if you are like me, you consider that in the entire prequel trilogy, the one part that is genuinely great on the level of the first two films is the lightsaber duel at the climax of Revenge of the Sith. Perhaps you are aware that Lucas handed over the reigns for computer-storyboarding that scene to one of his friends who had expressed doubt over the computer storyboard technology - meaning, in a sense, that Lucas did not direct the best sequence in the prequel trilogy. Perhaps you are also aware that the man who did direct that sequence was Steven Spielberg.
If he could pull beauty from the wreckage of Lucas's ego once, I pray that he can do it again. I'm going to know fairly soon.

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.
Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
i don't know. Lucas was splattered all over Indy 4 in my opinion... i look forward to talking to you about it. i am of two minds.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved your countdown, by the way.
