REAL LIFE AND THE BLOGGER

An ongoing service advisory - it pains me to say it, but the zero dollars a month I make blogging haven't really been enough to keep me watching movies - oh, or eating & paying my rent - so I went and got mysself a job. Started just yesterday, but today was actually the first long day. And it's one of those retail jobs, where I'll have a different schedule every week and sometimes it'll be super late at night and sometimes super late in the morning, and so basically, I'm telling you all of this because effective immediately, I can't really predict what kind of writing schedule I'll be keeping. Sometimes, I might even have to go two or three days in a row without posting anything; I'll try my damnedest to fill those days with a list or dirty film-related limericks or something, but one can make no promises.

Of course, if I got, say, $1000 a month in my tip jar, none of this would have to happen *cough*hint*

  2. Unfortunately I am an unemployed student so I can't offer much, but please, enjoy a movie on me. It is regrettably much too small a recompense for the many wonderful movies I would never have known about had I never stumbled upon your site, so I hope you will accept my thanks as well, and my promise to continue to donate when I can.

  3. Yikes, so sorry about that. Is it too much for me to say, "I hope you enjoy it?"

  4. Well this is unfortunate. I am in a similar situation and after Friday will be free of school and activly seeking employment. It sucks, but keep on doing your thing.

  5. I for one think you should make the best of this unfortunate twist and transform the blog (born as a "film and politics and whatever else" blog) into a "film and seafood" blog. Fishmongering tips ahoy?

  6. Also, quasi-socialist angry employee rumblings will find their way into even more film reviews than is already the case.

  7. It's truly a sad time when a blogger must get a job. That pays money, no less!

  8. Tim, I know EXACTLY what you're up against. I have a job (that I love) and don't get home until 8 at the latest. It's not going to be easy, but I fully trust you'll still impart your wit and wisdom.

  9. Hey everyone, I do appreciate the sympathy, but you don't need to worry about me. If you knew how damn long I've been looking for work, you'd know that this is much more a relief than an indignity.

And yes, I shall do my damnedest to keep working at the same level of quality (for good or bad) no matter what.

  10. It won't happen, man. I got a job and not only did I no longer have the time to keep up my rather undemanding writing schedule, but I also about lost my mind trying to write and adjust to a high-stress job at the same time.

  11. Since it's retail, I doubt your job requires much writing. If there's one thing I've found out, it's that if your job requires you to write, then there's very little left over in you to write in your spare time - which is why my blog is pretty much dead, and has been for over a year. Good luck!

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.

Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
