WAR AND REMEMBRANCE
As a combination Veterans/Remembrance Day tribute and second installment of my new series "Disney Features: Obscure and Embarrassing", I had ever intention of posting a review of the incredibly rare documentary Victory Through Air Power this evening. An unfortunate confluence of events - not least of which is the fact that I can barely keep myself from falling asleep on the keyboard - has prevented this plan from coming to pass, but have an eye on this blog bright and early tomorrow morning soon. OH MY GOD, WHY DO I KEEP GETTING CAUGHT IN THESE MARATHON-LENGTH ESSAYS ABOUT DISNEY MOVIES NOBODY BESIDES ME CARES ABOUT?. In the meantime, let me share with you all Donald Duck in the Oscar-winning "Der Fuehrer's Face".

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.
Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
God, I remember the first time I saw Der Fuehrer's Face in film school before the advent of YouTube or the great Disney in WWII DVD set.
ReplyDeleteI pretty much spent eight solid minutes with my jaw on the floor.
You've been doing some great work lately. Get some rest and come on back.
ReplyDeleteI care, Tim. I care.
ReplyDeletestephen said man. I don't even like disney that much and I've read every review. I still say you should pitch it as a book.
ReplyDeleteI care as well! It makes me quite happy to be seeing Disney reviews again, even is a much different side of Disney.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the silent-but-caring list too. I just usually trust/agree with your reviews and I don't have a ton of cinematic know-how (and am scared of looking like an idiot trying to talk about the technical aspects of film), so I don't have much to say.
