This is my favorite Miyazaki movie. There is something about the whole thing that just brings this sweet nostalgic feeling in me.
Pan Miluśhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01364446151493198587noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-89702267609802989572013-09-07T00:33:47.196-05:002013-09-07T00:33:47.196-05:00I always felt there were some of Miyazaki's fi...I always felt there were some of Miyazaki's films felt almost... Miyazaki "lite", like you mention here in Kiki. I felt the same about Howl and Ponyo as well, until I realized that these films are based off other sources not of Miyazaki's own writing. Kiki was based off of a book by Eiko Kadono, Howl's written by Diana Wynne Jones, Ponyo basically The Little Mermaid. Maybe that's part of it. Yet at the same time as films, they're distinctly Miyazaki of course.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03307420743525112063noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-3012280198407226392010-03-22T19:44:20.135-05:002010-03-22T19:44:20.135-05:00Good review. I think it's probably partially *because* it's a touch more conventional--this is probably also why some people prefer it.

Re the ending, which you briefly mention, it IS kind of abrupt, but that seems to be a hallmark of the director--you see it here, you saw it in Laputa, and you'll see it especially in Porco Rosso. I...don't necessarily have anything to say about this. Just pointing out.GeoX, one of the GeoX boys.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14658452994152399308noreply@blogger.com
