But can say I've never read a better interpretation and analysis of its capacity to infect its audience with cinematic PTSD. If they remake it, and Hollywood probably would, I'd like to think Demme of Friedkin should direct, Sam Worthington could play Frady (or Tom Welling merely as homage to Beatty; shudders), Jude Law as Jack Younger, Anne Hathaway as Lee Carter and both Anthony Zerbe and William Daniels should reprise. Just sayin'.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-61709950050077148022009-10-01T10:35:01.333-05:002009-10-01T10:35:01.333-05:00Excellent write-up on this absolute classic of the...Excellent write-up on this absolute classic of the thriller genre. I caught up with this film for the upteenth time the last time it played on Turner Classic Movies and was struck by just how well it holds up.

I would also say that another key ingredient to the film's success is Warren Beatty's top-notch performance. I'm not a huge fan of this guy's work (alto, he was great in REDS) but he really hits out of the park on this one. I love how his character goes from skeptic to believer over the course of the film and we watch his character gradually get entangled in this complex conspiracy.

Great stuff.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-54329032522931520962009-10-01T05:56:54.701-05:002009-10-01T05:56:54.701-05:00Hell of a write-up, Tim.
