I think the theme of unfulfilled potentiality might be pushing things a bit too far (I mean, isn't that what all death is about in slasher films?). The dream sequences in this film are about as good as any--especially the death of the comic-nerd. The teen characters are also about as good as any Nightmare or horror film. I mean, does Laurie from Halloween or Nancy from Nightmare 1 really have anything on these quirky teens? No, it's not Shakespeare, but less bland than the usual fare.RDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17607164834187817509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-84341208664211660662008-12-06T17:26:00.000-06:002008-12-06T17:26:00.000-06:00That must have been sarcasm. Anybody with the gall to give their website that tagline is not-hip. Furthermore, attempting to undergo a narrative analysis of Nightmare 5 is misunderstanding the horror genre period. period. this film deserves another viewing, keeping in mind ambience. You attempt that by making declarations about lighting, but you don't differentiate between horror movies that rely on suspense, and those that rely on innovative situations and creative violence. Nevertheless, If you want to go with the quintessence of narrative evaluation, break the plot down to its most essential nodes. This movie is about the trauma of reproduction, about the horror of unfulfilled potentiality.joshbarlashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14040436055412134767noreply@blogger.com
