Rather, many of the images seem right out of How Green Was My Valley. Google image it, and you'll see.

As to the movie as a whole, it isn't a masterpiece, but I liked it a good deal better than you did. There were two or three sequences that were absolutely as achingly beautiful as anything Spielberg's ever done.StephenMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16588260639227694557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-11099149196274928902012-01-06T01:01:26.807-06:002012-01-06T01:01:26.807-06:00I actually don't dislike Hook. I will ignore the criticism for Tintin, because I am fuckin' PSYCHED for that movie, but I coulda seen the War Horse stuff coming. I had no idea it was going to be a bizarre episodic story, but the thing that had me achin' to see it was the "THE MAN WHO MADE SAVING PRIVATE RYAN AND REINVITED WW2 PICTURES MAKES A WW1 PICTURE", only to come here and find out that it's all very... blah. Expectations were low to begin with.

It's somewhat akin to the disastrous film version of "Dreamcatcher". You could argue the filmmakers were just being faithful to the source material.

Now, I will argue strenuously with anyone who tries to put his "War of the Worlds" on a 'worst of' list.RickRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17060339578835099120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-31873149901099036812011-12-28T20:02:23.620-06:002011-12-28T20:02:23.620-06:00I am all about the "Let's Rank Spielberg!...I am all about the "Let's Rank Spielberg!" game, but for right now I'll agree that 1941 is below Hook (though the score is absolutely terrific); The Terminal is below both of them, and The Lost World, I maintain, is further down still. I have not seen Always; it is the single gap in my Spielberg education, TV episodes notwithstanding.Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09491952893581644049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-60433073505424157312011-12-28T19:58:53.988-06:002011-12-28T19:58:53.988-06:00I kind of don't hate "1941" like I k...I kind of don't hate "1941" like I know I should.
