Maybe 8, cause I found the last third of the movie predictable. But, as you pointed it, it's a fable, and it reminded me some Eric Rohmer's movies, where the main protagonist is faced with his moral ambiguity. It also reminded me Sex, Lies and Videotapes, Brooke playing a role in Magic Mike similar to McDowell's in the first Soderbergh's movie: observing the male main character and showing him a way to get out of himself, to get out of the maze he is lost into. (English is not my mother tongue).Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13883042237986767283noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-1017193600985023132012-07-05T14:52:34.118-05:002012-07-05T14:52:34.118-05:00Kelsy- I won't say I'm surprised, but it w...Kelsy- I won't say I'm surprised, but it was definitely not the movie I expected.

jjonatron- If you're going for the Soderbergh, I think I can promise that you're going to like it quite a lot.

Zev- Well, it's a one-note character. But I believed her, and I liked her interplay with Tatum.

I will say that the middle-aged women in the audience with me - in my theater, I was one of two males and the only person under 45 - seemed a touch too bored by the not-stripping scenes to be having a terrible good time, but it was also a suburban show on a weekday afternoon.Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09491952893581644049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-61452260986571143312012-07-05T10:51:15.872-05:002012-07-05T10:51:15.872-05:00I also found the dance routines to be goofily ente...I also found the dance routines to be goofily entertaining without ever being specifically erotic, but I'm not sure how much of that was Soderbergh and how much of that is inherent in the routines themselves. Even the reactions of the women in the audience seemed to speak more of "out having a scandalously good time" than "driven into a frenzy of desire".

I'm absolutely in agreement about it being an excellent movie (without in the least minding the many desirable bodies on display), but I'm not quite with you on Horn. While the scene of her watching Tatum's dance was indeed quite impressive, I found the rest of her work kind of one-note--lots of scowling, not much else. But I'll keep a closer eye when I watch it again (for the art!), and maybe have another opinion.Zev Valancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10239062791827527067noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-2097408450130837552012-07-05T04:28:47.224-05:002012-07-05T04:28:47.224-05:00Haven't seen it yet, but I'm pumped.
