I ENTER THE BLOGOSPHERE, AND IT IS SCARY

So I've been a blogger for about 36 hours now, and an actual, honest-to-god f'rreal weblog has linked to me. The post in question is at majikthise.typepad.com/majikthise_/2005/08/fantasy.html - I don't want to put it in a link because I don't want the trackback because I am a neurotic sonofabitch who won't even save cookies to my hard drive, so why would I want strangers to be able to find my weblog my head hurts.

(I would like to state that it is one of the creepiest things in the world to be going through one's customary late-morning sweep of the blogs and stumble across a link to oneself.)

And here I thought that the only people who would ever read this were people that had been in my apartment. And Will. Which is kind of how I wanted it to be, but whatever. I can deal with being constantly paranoid.

Anyway, if there are any strange and mysterious Not Acquaintances Of Mine reading this, um, hello and welcome to my blog. You're welcome to stay, even comment if you'd like. Just be forewarned that I will occasionally (often?) talk about people and things you won't know and don't care about. Like Will, above. Will is a friend of mine. He is allergic to cats, and that is why he can't come to my apartment. Also, because he just moved to L.A to go to the AFI. Congratulations are in order to Will.

  1. you want a cautionary tale about blogging, you get one: here and here

just don't ever stop to think about who's reading your blog. it's not like you're angling to be in academia anyways.

(there was a spelling error in my first commment post, so i deleted it for fear of being run out of the academe)

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.

Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
