IT'S LIKE SATIRE, OR SOMETHING

I doubt I have to point anyone to The Onion, but I just wanted to make sure everyone saw this article about a new faith-compatible scientific theory: Intelligent Falling. When they're on, they're really on

I don't want this to turn into a Cranky Rationalist blog (PZ Myers at Pharyngula has that title for perpetuity, anyway), but I really do believe that the current imbroglio over Intelligent Design is perhaps the most important issue in domestic American politics and culture right now. More than two-thirds of American adults believe that Intelligent Design is a valid scientific theory that should be taught alongside evolutionary theory in public schools.

The fact of the matter is that the "holes" in evolution are neither destructive nor inexplicable, and there is nothing whatsoever scientific about ID. I won't bother looking for sources to back me up, as a cursory Google search should turn up a few dozen articles that agree with me.

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.

Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
