LEONARDO DiCAPRIO IS A COBAG
Too late to post, really, but I saw that Leo has a list of the ten best movies ever, and given that he is a reasonably bright young actor, I expected that it might be somewhat interesting...
Nope.
10. East of Eden (Elia Kazan, 1955)
Aww...wittle Weo wantsa be James Dean?
8. Sunset Blvd. (Billy Wilder, 1950)
Great film, sure, but a barbarously literal write-up.
6. Yojimbo (Kurosawa Akira, 1961)
A fine film, but I think you could put together a top ten of better Kurosawa.
2. Taxi Driver (Martin Scorsese, 1976)
Suck up.
1. Ladri di biciclette (Vittorio De Sica, 1948)
Fuck you, Leonardo DiCaprio.

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.
Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
But Tim! Manhattan! The Third Man! I love these things! And let's acknowledge this list is not nearly so awful as it could potentially have been.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious, why didn't you include the other five films?
ReplyDelete9 - The Shining
8 - Sunset Boulevard
7 - Manhattan
5 - The Third Man
4 - 8 1/2
3 - Lawrence of Arabia
Also, what is your current Top Ten?
I suspect that Tim didn't include the other five because they are ROCK SOLID! WOO!
ReplyDeletethere is a big difference between "10 best" and "10 favorite." i wonder which this actually is? i can't believe that Manhattan would really make a 10 Best list. on the other hand, who would expect The Bicycle Thief to make ANYONE'S 10 Favorite list?
ReplyDeleteAdmit it Tim... You simply hate Ladri di biciclette and so you felt compelled to mock a top ten list that, truth be told, overlaps your own 50 best list more than you'd care to admit and simultaneously doesn't contain a bad film (apart from the aforementioned number one pick).
ReplyDeleteHonestly, it is a better list than you'd get from plenty of bright young actors.
