OFCS: 2007 NOMINATIONS

The Online Film Critics Society has announced it's nominations for the best films of the year. I'm not going to be so churlish as to discuss them, or point out where I agree or disagree with these, or mention who my own nominating votes were for. That would be disloyal. 1. 1) i am so frickin' glad that Zodiac hasn't been forgotten here, and i hope hope hope that it is not forgotten for future awards, either. i worried about that literally all year long. i am sad to see that none of its actors were nominated, though.

    2) i'm going to ask, because i have no idea and i'm sure many of your readers are in the same position: how much sway, if any, do these nominations have over the Academy Awards?

    3) didn't The Lives of Others come out last year? in fact, didn't it win the Best Foreign Language Oscar last year?

    4) it bothers me to no end that they count Beowulf as being animated.

  2. Yay! Finally, Jennifer Garner gets some recognition for her great turn in Juno.

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.

Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
