GENTLEMEN AND LADIES...

Update : the promised Facebook thingy.

In my alternate life as a very struggling filmmaker, I have spent some time these last months working with an extremely talented pair of Chicago-based actresses, Sarah Rose Graber and Casey Pilkenton, on a web series following them as they throw themselves bodily into exploring whatever interesting pop culture ephemera catches their eye at that moment (I'm behind the camera, and throw myself bodily into nothing). Our first, abortive experiment was on psychics, with Sarah Rose and Casey stopping people on the street to read their energies; we've re-grouped and re-started with... I shouldn't like to spoil the surprise.

We call ourselves Pop Culture Shock: YouTube channel here (with a nice clutch of videos already), and blog here (and on the sidebar). God willing and the creek don't rise, we'll be posting new episodes every Tuesday; I hope you'll all be kind enough to check them out and tell us how wonderful and lovable we are. You can also follow us on the Facebook thingy; sadly, having nuked my own FB account, I can't share that info just now, but I'll be providing a link as soon as one of my co-conspirators hooks me up.

  1. Looks like funny stuff. Add one more follower to your list, I'll be watching this as faithfully as I read your blog.

Speaking of which, I hope you do a write-up of "Rango", it was surprisingly excellent.

  2. Tim, this is extremely funny! I'll definitely subscribe to that YT channel, in fact, hang on a sec...there, done.

BTW, at 1.26 of the Drag Queen video, is that Vera Serduchka in the picture?

  3. It's Dame Edna, in fact, about whom we had some very good stuff that ended upon the cutting room floor.

Thanks both of you for the lovely compliments! I'll make sure Sarah Rose & Casey hear about it.

Rob: postponed seeing it until tomorrow for reasons not worth going into.

  5. Looking forward to acquainting myself with future episodes. Sarah Rose and Casey seem to have a natural and witty repartee, and with the catch-all title, you could steer this into practically any realms you wanted.

And great to see that "directed by Tim Brayton" credit!

  6. Ya know, the little theme song/jingle has been stuck in my head since you posted this. -_-

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.

Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
