SPREADING MY INFLUENCE

A brief bit of very exciting news!

Today is the first day of a brand new weekly column that I have been kindly granted by Nathaniel R of The Film Experience, in which I get to sound off on film-related issues in a sort of vaguely-defined, "let us now discuss the world if movies" format. Week 1: Why the ad campaign behind Spring Breakers is a damned pack of lies, and what that means for your weekend.

Meanwhile, this blog will continue to putter along, same as it ever was. A more conventional review of Spring Breakers will be popping up later tonight.

  1. Good column Tim, I really have to figure out how to subscribe to stuff so it pops up in my email instead of googling it (I've got my own stuff up no Whatculture now so I should really learn these simple web things). Anyhoo, you're totally right about SpringBreakers. When I saw stills from it and the poster I was like "oh a James Franco tit-comedy". Then I found out who directed it and I was "eeeeeeeeew" but I'd wager I'm a bigger film nerd than the average cat who would still think it was a tit- comedy.

  2. Great idea! Consider discussing the trend of International Trailers being more plot heavy than Domestic Trailers. See: http://iwatchstuff.com/2013/03/the-wolverine-trailers-logan-faces-death.php

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.

Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
