TIM AT TFE: BEFORE AND AFTER
My column this week at The Film Experience: an all too brief appreciation of some of the reasons that Before Sunrise and Before Sunset are among the very best romantic dramas ever made, on the eve of their sequel, Before Midnight, kicking off its U.S. run.

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.
Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
Are you seeing the film tomorrow, Tim? You have no idea how jealous I am. Won't get it here until another three weeks.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever been this cautious of spoilers for a film. Recently, whenever I see a film, I sit towards the back of the theater so I can walk out just in case the trailer pops up. I haven't read a single snippet of a review (and I won't read yours until I see the film), although I well aware of the almost unanimous praise it has received.
Very nice recap! Did you have to look up novennial? Is that even a real word? :)
ReplyDeleteUnknown- No, it doesn't open in Chicago till next weekend. My plan is for Saturday, and boy, will I ever be relieved that I can stop hiding from it.
ReplyDeleteMike- A real word indeed! One that, to my shame, I did have to look up.
