SUMMERTIME BLOGGING
A couple of announcements for y'all:
First, today would have been the 69th birthday of director Tony Scott, who died last August. To honor his memory, I'm kicking off an abbreviated retrospective of all the feature films he directed that I haven't previously reviewed, between now and 12 August, the anniversary of his death.
Second, Antagony & Ecastasy will be spending this summer at the beach. I'd already been thinking about doing this, and Annette Funicello's death this spring locked it in: between today and Labor Day, we'll be revisiting the seven films of the AIP Beach Party series from the 1960s.
Both of these series will be kicking off later today.

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.
Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
"The Hunger"!!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm also looking forward to your thoughts on The Hunger, Man on Fire and especially The Last Boy Scout.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in the Beach Party stuff, if only because you're really good at writing up history.
ReplyDeleteRest in Peace Tony. Your True Romance review will be twice as sad to read now that James Gandolfini passed away as well.
