TIM AT TFE: FOR THE LOVE OF KAIJU
This week's column: on the eve of Pacific Rim, I get a little bit defensive about how much I love Japanese monster movies.

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.
Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
For someone who loves kaiju movies so much, you sure haven't reviewed many (any?) of them. Hint; hint.
ReplyDeleteThere is a plan in place. Let's just say that a certain somebody turns 60 next year, and I intend to celebrate it, excessively.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to it! ...Especially since my knowledge has a great big gap between "Metaphor for the atomic bomb" and "Matthew Broderick fights InGen velociraptors".
ReplyDeleteI have limited experience with Kaiju films, so I can't predict how you'll react to Pacific Rim based on, e.g. Godzilla vs. Mecha Godzilla.
ReplyDeleteIf you have any affection for Super Robot anime, though, I think you're in for a treat.
Tim, are you also a fan of some of the giant monsters/robots anime series, like Neon Genesis Evangelion?

ReplyDeleteThere are a whole lot of Godzilla movies to review! Looking forward to your characteristic in-depth look at all of them, if that is indeed what you've got in mind!
