Anyone who decides to become an artist probably thinks that they are interesting, or at least, that they think interesting things. I am surely no exception. Not that I believe that I am some sort of intellectual god among men, but it seems to me that when I expound upon things (and I expound; oh, believe me, I expound), my friends have always listened to me, if not with rapture, then at least with greater interest than politeness mandates.
The topics of this blog will be threefold: first, I shall discuss politics, culture, the news of the day, and I will do so from a leftist/liberal slant, with the knowledge of someone for whom politics is a primary interest. Second, I shall discuss art - films, books, music, etc. I shall endeavor to comment on all such artistic objects that I encounter. Third, I shall make constant reference to myself and my station, on the thesis that anyone who reads a weblog that I write will be interested in me as a person.
And...we're off!

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.
Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
