Here I am, I have done this thing which I always swore I would not do. I have a blog.
It would be reasonable to ask, "Why now?" I have a couple of answers, but I don't like them very much.
Everyone's gone. Not everyone, not literally, but many people who I have known and known well are no longer a part of my everyday life. Back home, or entering a new future.
And I, I remain, here in Evanston.
In the battle of Luddite impulses, blogging won out over AIM. Because hate it though I may, at least blogging allows for the possibility of long-form communication.
Thus ANTAGONY & ECSTASY. I can't think of a better way to keep all of my closest friends updated on what goes on in my life. I suppose it's arrogant to assume that anyone's that interested. But here it is.

Just a few rules so that everybody can have fun: ad hominem attacks on the blogger are fair; ad hominem attacks on other commenters will be deleted. And I will absolutely not stand for anything that is, in my judgment, demeaning, insulting or hateful to any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion. And though I won't insist on keeping politics out, let's think long and hard before we say anything particularly inflammatory.
Also, sorry about the whole "must be a registered user" thing, but I do deeply hate to get spam, and I refuse to take on the totalitarian mantle of moderating comments, and I am much too lazy to try to migrate over to a better comments system than the one that comes pre-loaded with Blogger.
